Technical Service Representative - Based out of Baltimore, MD

Regional Technical Service Representative (TSR) – provides product support to internal Tnemec personnel as well as outside customers, agency representatives, and their staff. 

Tnemec Technical Service offers a wide variety of product support for all Tnemec products from specification to application and from the beginning of a product’s service-life cycle to its end. The Regional TSR will be assigned various duties in their assigned region and in some cases nationally.  The Regional TSR also oversees the equipment rental operations and maintenance and assists customers with plural coating equipment operation.  The Regional TSR will be on site with Tnemec equipment or the customer’s equipment to ensure the coatings are applied correctly per Tnemec application standards.  This position requires a significant amount of travel to various worksites and flexible working hours to be responsive to the needs of the customer.  Continuing education as it relates to the coatings industry to show advancement towards a mastery of industry knowledge is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks as assigned by the Technical Service Manager such as:
    • Product support via telephone and e-mail correspondence
    • Field work including:
      • Job start-up support
      • Product complaint investigation
      • Failure analysis sample collection
      • Sample-chip analysis
      • New product demonstrations
      • Other field work deemed necessary
    • Product support via written correspondence including:
      • Technical Service Preliminary Research Summary
      • Reports on generic analysis and overcoat analysis
      • Product failure analysis
      • Field trip reports
      • Customer form letters
    • Provide additional support for the training of:
      • Customers
      • Agency Representative new hires
      • Technical Services new hires

Regional TSR must continue their education in the coatings industry to show advancement towards a mastery in the following categories:

Equipment Maintenance

Documentation

Rental Execution

Qualifications

Knowledge, Experience, Education, and Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years coatings industry or application experience
  • Plural component coatings application experience
  • AMPP CIP Certification
  • Valid driver’s license with no restrictions
  • Ability to obtain DOT drug card
  • Ability to drive pickup truck and trailer
  • Must work around Industrial Chemicals, Solvents, Paints, Isocyanates in an Industrial environment and can lift ~100 lbs as needed.
  • Ability to work weekend overtime is required. This position will include working non-standard hours to support customer schedules
  • Ability to work at heights
